What a Week!

Well we're ready for the fun to start!  My wonderful husband and crew of helpers just spent two days getting ready for the annual Prairie Christmas show in Kimballton Iowa.  Due to the roof falling in at our former location the location changed this year.  The Immanuel Lutheran Church was kind enough for give us a new home for the show.  It is a wonderful location and was so much fun to set up  as it  has great nooks and crannies for the different  items  featured at the show.  They were so kind and helpful to all of us.  The show has been a part of the Julefest celebration for over 30 years.  It will be open Friday , Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26.  Am looking forward to the  festivities.  The following Friday and Saturday will be an open house at Rosey's Cellar shop with refreshments and a pre-Christmas sale.  Will try to post pictures of both next time. Have a wonderful turkey day tomorrow.

What's New!

Finally it looks like fall is on the way and after the high heat and humidity I am looking forward to the cooler weather.  The garden has suffered from the weather but the recent rain has helped some.  The shop is now filled with lots of new items for fall and some really unusual furniture pieces.  Our country fair is this weekend and then my show schedule starts up.  Am looking forward to both and seeing my friends that I haven't  seen for quite a while.  Am posting some new pictures of the house and shop to let you see what I have been doing all summer .  Hope you enjoy them.

Hi all
We finally got the new room finished and it is already full(and has been rearranged twice to add more goodies.  I have had a lot of fun working with a totally different style than usual.  I hope everyone enjoys seeing what's new and am also adding a picture or two of my gardens as they are looking especially good right now.  Lots of things have been added to the other rooms recently so they are overflowing with great things also.  Hopefully yu can come and see the shop soon.

It's Coming!

It's finally started.  I am so excited.  We finally got started on the new room at the shop yesterday.  Not sure how long it will take to get it ready but have been stockpiling things and will be ready to decorate as soon as it is ready.  The rest of the shop is in total disarray because of having to make room to get the materials in and out of it, but will deal with that whenever I can.  Am considering having a porch sale a little later this summer to clear out a few things.  Will post more on this later.  Come see us soon.

A Quick Glimpse of the Shop

The shop is overflowing with new goodies for your home, garden or gifts.  I have spent lots of time working in the garden this last month and it is finally starting to take shape.  When I'm not in the garden I keep busy transforming all the neat pieces I have found on our recent garage sale marathons into some great things for the shop(unless they are something I just can't live without!)  Am posting some pictures to show you how full the shop is and a few new items ready to be moved into the shop if I can find a place for them.  Haven't gotten started on the new room at the shop so am stockpiling a ton of new shabby chic junque in my living room until it has a home to move into.

Maybe spring is finally here?

It is looking like spring is finally here. The gardens are coming to life.  The shop is overflowing with new items for your homes and gardens.  I did a garden seminar recently and it was a lot of fun to talk to all the other gardeners there and trade information with the other vendors.  Am waiting impatiently for the work on the new room at the shop to begin.  I already am making things for it. It will be much different than the type of work I usually do so will be a fun change of pace.  Already have done a few things that I'm saving for the new area.  Also looking forward to the garage sale season to arrive to see what treasures I can find to work on.

Exciting News

Found the best garden tool yesterday-a wonderful husband with a skid-loader!  We spent the day moving large plants that had outgrown their home in my garden.  Had been wanting to change things for quite a long time and finally got a start on it.  While  working on that we discussed our plans to add some much needed room in my shop.  We are going to move a stairway and add the room it is in as shop space.  He said it couldn't happen overnight and I told him that was OK-next week would be fine.  Seriously though it should be open by fall.  It will be my shabby- chic- junque room and I'm already decorating it in my mind.  Hopefully the large flower gardens will keep me busy while he is doing the major part of the work.

Can you tell I like color?

Can you tell from the photos that I like color?  Primitive style and deep colors are my favorite things to live with.  I have many collections and change most areas with the seasons-my favorites being fall(Halloween) and Christmas.  During the spring and summer months much of my time is sprnt in the garden so my house reflects that during those seasons.

Darn Winter

Had planned to get some pics taken to post today but snow put an end to that idea.  Hopefully I can do this tomorrow.  Maybe now I could explain a little about the Prairie Christmas photo.  It is the show that is always the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving.  It is held in Kimballton Iowa.  It showcases the work of about 30 artists.  All items are handmade in a primitive style.  Most of them are one-of-a-kind.  It is part of the Julefest celebration in Elk Horn/Kimballton which draws a large crowd and is a lot of fun.
